Telescopic View of a Launch

Back in February I captured a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch at sunset which I posted on the YouTube channel.

Having gained the knowledge that sunset launches were visible I attempted to capture another sunset launch this evening only this time I used an 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The results were less than desirable but only because of the weather. There was quite a bit of haze which made it very difficult to track the rocket. In fact I did not see it with the naked eye until the max q contrail appeared. I did not know I had captured the rocket until I got home and reviewed the footage.

This does give me hope that I may be able to track future launches with the telescope if the weather is good. It will definitely require some fine tracking to keep the rocket within the telescopes field-of-view.
