The British Are Going!

This morning a Royal Air Force KC Voyager passed overhead after departing Lawson Army Airfield at Ft Moore. Based on the Airbus 330 airframe, fourteen of these make up the United Kingdom’s tanker fleet where they are also used for transport duty. The RAF pilot was heard on the radio using callsign ASCOT 2107.

Of course it was cloudy so I could not record a video but I do have photos from RIAT 2011 of the first KC.3 Voyager delivered to the RAF.

This was not the first time a RAF tanker has been to Lawson AAF. Back in February 2006 I photographed this Vickers VC.10 from the backyard.
